Emily's Birthday

Last week we celebrated Emily's 16th birthday.  Only in our house does the birthday girl shop for and wrap her own presents.  But that's how we did it this year.

16th birthdays are special in our house: that's when the girls get make-up and heels (with an inch limit).  Emily, being the family's fashion designer, was very excited.  We held her present opening and birthday cake in the afternoon.

Emily is very style-smart and picked out the birthday colors: black, white, and peach.

She gets a bouquet of flowers nearly every birthday.  Some for the table, some to wear in her hair.

The boys made Emily a Lego birthday cake.  It made a good crown.

We don't know who was more excited about the presents, Emily or David.

Mom and Hannah watching the festivities.

You can see how Gavin felt as each successive present turned out to be "not fun for boys".

Braden helped unwrap.  You can see Emily is excited about this one.

She also got a camera.  It was on sale to boot.  What a savvy shopper!

This is David's IT'S CAKE TIME face.

And this is the cake: layers of crumbly crust, white chocolate, and raspberry covered in chocolate.  It was delicious.
