Snow! (About 1.5 cm)

This week the weatherman predicted some winter storms.  There were two responses: hunker down and freeze or that we weren't going to get cold weather at all.  We got the best of both: it's not too too cold, but we did get snow.
Last night we went to close the curtains and realized that there was snow mixed in with the rain.  After a few minutes the rain disappeared and left just the snow.  Braden, who has never experienced snow, ran through the house.  "Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow!"  The kids bundled up for ten second forays into the cold.  Gavin suggested that Braden, who was still shouting about the snow, go outside.  "Nooo!" Braden said, shivering.  "It's cold!"  The little guy was right- it was cold outside.
By morning, the ground was lightly blanketed and the kids had their coats on.

The ice was fun to slip and slide on.

The backyard was snowy.

These two are down with the flu.  Katie was chipper enough though to go outside for a few minutes.  This is a once in a three-year chance after all.  Gavin kept them stocked in bowls of snow, which was very powdery.

Braden loved the snow.

This is Spencer's tree fort- the plans originally called for a second story but there was a shortage of rope to lash the pieces together.  And there is our live- yes, still alive- Christmas tree.  We wonder if it has roots because it has been going since December.  The birds love it.
