The rain stopped, temperatures have been dropping, and the leaves and daylight hours have too. Jessica is getting dropped off at seminary in the dark and coming home just as the sun is rising. We've loved playing outside now that it isn't hot and muggy, although mom had to make a trip to the attic to get out the winter clothes and coats. We're not sure if this sudden change is permanent or if it'll get hot again in a couple of days so we're trying to enjoy it.
School is continuing on as usual. In history we are studying the Revolution and all the older kids, Jessica to Hannah, are writing reports about the subject. Jessica and Emily are comparing and contrasting America's Revolution to Canada's gradual separation from England. Jessica was very surprised to find that Queen Elizabeth II is still monarch of Canada, although it has its own government system (similar to England's). We learn something new every day. In science we are moving on in our study of the elements and their interactions. Gavin, Katie, and David are doing well in their phonics and reading and writing.
Mom is improving her pizza recipe and continuing in her goal to not buy any store-bought bread. She has succeeded so far, and we are enjoying the good food.
We hope everyone is enjoying good cool weather like we are.
