January 2022
She aced the ACT!
The college application has been sent in.
Scholarships have been applied for.
What's next...learning to cook.
Katie treated us to her favorite rice-a-roni in her new non-stick pan.
We had sugar cookies, shortbread with cherries, and chocolate drops. But some how we forgot to make the peanut blossoms for Christmas. David and Braden eagerly add the Hershey's kisses to the hot baked cookies. Yum! They were so good.
Gavin stayed in Utah this Christmas break. He carried on the family tradition of going skiing at Brighton. His first run on the snowboard, he forgot to get off the chairlift. Then he found himself carried to the top of the mountain and came down a black diamond trail on his first run. He lived!
The cold doesn't scare us.
With our down filled storm parkas and mittens,
we are ready to tackle all the weather.
Late morning scripture study.
Dad was too cozy in bed to go to the family room,
so scriptures came to him.
The start of the new year means the next step on the covenant path.
Braden joined the rest of the family in the Kansas City temple for baptisms.
Love those winter parkas.
We never made it to Utah for skiing. Snow Creek Missouri will have to do.
We watched snowboarding videos all week.
We could toe turn and heel turn...
but how do you get the board on?
Two excited little snow boarders.
It's a man made hill,
with homemade snow,
but it was seven hours of pure fun.
Halfway through they traded their boards in for skies.
Katie preferred the board,
Braden liked the skies.
Katie zigzagged;
Braden snowplowed straight down the hill.
(This was the hill at closing time, after everyone had left.
We couldn't believe how many people were packed into this little space.)
Favorite snack- Popcorn!
