Canoeing went so well when Dad was here that the kids wanted to take Grandpa as well.  Off to the marina we went.

Here we are after our personal flotation device fitting:

We were off to our chariots.

The boys:

The grownups and Katie:

The girls:

We paddled aimlessly for a while.  Then someone had the bright idea to connect all the canoes.

Gavin held the bows together.  I think he was taking a nap.

Spencer held the sterns together.  Silly as it may have looked, our flotilla worked really well.   It traveled straight and fast.

Then somebody had another idea.

Traveling end to end didn't work very well.  It was very hard to steer.

On the other side of the river we found a salt marsh that beckoned us in.  We live on a salt marsh that we are terrified to even stand too close to- because of alligators and mosquitoes.  A salt marsh on the other side of town seemed okay.

Grandpa's steering abilities were tested at every turn.

Katie saw something and Hannah saw something- probably a dragonfly or snail.
We hit the end of the waterway so we called it a day.  We turned around a headed home.

Braden is getting more independent and curious.  A few days ago he dumped a box of Cheerios on the floor. Then he threw the empty box in the garbage.   Then he found the battery collection and began playing 'battery tester'. Yep, this one works.  Then we took away the battery and put all the batteries where he couldn't reach them.

Emily did an amazing job on the ornaments
