The third snow fall of the year hit us this week. The kids barely even noticed this last snow. They looked out the window and said it’s too cold and went back to playing. Our area isn't equipped for snow, no plows or salt spreaders. Church was canceled for the second time due to snow. The many bridges are especially icy.
Last year we all worked together with Jessica on her scripture mastery for the Book of Mormon. It was torturous and grueling each morning but after a scripture was memorized there was a sense of accomplishment. And what delight when an apostle used one of our scriptures during conference and we could quote along with him. Well, this year Jessica wasn't a novice anymore and jumped in right at the beginning and started memorizing on her own. She was down to the last three verses and I realized that I missed having the knowledge of the scriptures right in my mind all the time. So before she could finish, the kids and I jumped on and worked on D&C 84:33-39, the Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood. My little troop did beautifully and all had it more or less perfect by the end of the week. I enjoy having the verses run through my mind as I run errands or work in the yard. We are preparing for the big one: JSH 1:15-20. I offered a $20 reward to each who masters it. Dad still has it memorized from his mission, so the kids have a little motivation. Everyone wants to be like dad
